Hammetschwand Lift
The largest and highest outdoor lift in Europe was built in the early 20th century in the Alpine resort Bürgenstock, Switzerland. The famous resort is located at an altitude of 800 metres above sea level, that’s why Hammetschwand Lift was built – to make a comfortable journey to the resort. From the observation deck, you can expect a stunning view of Lake Lucerne and the surrounding Alpine peaks. Hammetschwand is a popular tourist attraction, which has attracted many tourists for years.
From Lucerne, you can get to Hammetschwand Lift by boat and then by an old railway. Buses run from Stansstad to Bürgenstock. In winter, the elevator does not work.
