St. Pete`s Island on Lake Biel
St. Peter's Island is located on Lake Biel in the Swiss canton of Bern. A small island, which is now due to the low water already is a peninsula, primarily known for being on it for several years lived Jean-Jacques Rousseau. French writer, philosopher and nature lovers argued that this is where he spent the happiest days of my life. Hotel rooms in which Rousseau stayed, and still filled with memorabilia and attracts visitors. Nature Reserve is rich in orchards, vineyards, which are surrounded by a picturesque oak forest.
On the southern shore of the lake is a commune Erlach, from which the island can hike-hour walk. From the city of Biel, that on the north shore of the lake, will be a pleasant journey to the island by boat. Lake Biel is located at a distance of about 35 kilometers from the city of Bern.
