Historic centre of Stein am Rhein

Small but very picturesque town of Stein am Rhein is located in the Swiss canton of Schaffhausen on the Rhine, about 40 kilometers north-east of Zurich.

The city is known for its historic center, where the perfectly preserved medieval houses, narrow streets and bay windows. City sprang up around the monastery of St. George, which can be seen today in the heart of Stein. In addition to this significant attractions in the old city there are several interesting buildings from the Middle Ages. Near the monastery is the Town Hall Square with many painted houses. In the town hall building is now a museum of armor, weapons and banners.
