Clock Tower (Zytglogge)
Clock Tower in Bern - one of the symbols of Bern and the whole of Switzerland. It was built in the 13th century and for a time was part of the fortifications of the city.
The main decoration of this unique towers are astronomical clock, which were installed on the eastern facade of the tower back in 1530. Their creator was a great scientist Caspar Brunner. The mechanism established in the 15th century, was considered the epitome of cutting-edge technologies, and for the past five centuries, it just works. Set the clock on the tower shows the exact time, day, month, zodiac sign, as well as the phases of the moon. Clock mechanism drives the mechanical fabulous figure and four minutes before the onset of each new hour played a real spectacle.
The tower is located near the area Barrenplats, to reach it from the main station is just a couple of minutes.
