The Grande Dixence Dam
The main dam hydroelectric complex Klezon-Diksens Grand Diksens, was built in 1964. Located in the Swiss canton of Valais, in the south side of the city of Sion. Represents the world's greatest gravity dam with a height of 285 meters. Huge concrete wall holds incredible amounts of water melting glaciers.
Spectacular views of the dam and reservoir Dix attract many tourists. From mid-June to late September every day there will be several excursions that provide the opportunity to visit in the middle of the dam and see its structure from the inside. At the top of the dam can be reached by cable car or on foot in the mountains on the punched-lit tunnels.
